题：Plants that flower when days are longoften depend on_________to help them reproduce.
这题题目中问的是“日光长的植物依赖于（depend on）什么来帮助它们繁殖（reproduce）。”文章中说“日光长的植物需要通过昆虫来受精繁殖。” 所以答案应该是填insects。 很多同学首先是reproduce这个单词不认识，其次，到文章中找到Long-day plants定位后，由于fertilization（受精）不认识，也很难做出这道题目。
（2）文：......temperaturesfluctuate greatly form day to day,.......
题：......________are unpredictable
这题中有学生fluctuate（波动）这个单词不认识，造成了不知道什么东西是不可预测的。
2. 短语。 单词也许都认识，但几个单词放一块变成词组就不知道什么意思了，这也是平时积累不够，造成短语看不明白。比如，雅思阅读里多次出现take into account，很多学生的第一反应是“account 银行账户”，但是这个短语和银行账户一点关系都没有，take into account是指“把...考虑在内，考虑到...”。 再比如剑五里面一道题目：
文：Royal Society possessed an interest inlanguage and became engaged in various linguistic projects.
题：scientists associated with the _________set about developing English. （答案：Royal Society）原文中的短语became engaged in 意为“开始从事......”，题目中的set about doing sth.也是指“开始着手去做某事”，这两个短语是同义短语，而很多学生不认识这两个短语，所以题目没法做出来。
